With Google Rollout very much anticipated Google Trips App today for English Speaking people today, experts say with this step, it will become a significant force in the Travel Industry.
The Google Trip App will use a Gmail account of the user to reserve a hotel, car rental, and aggregate upcoming and past flights. It is considered a foundation for making personal recommendations.
The Google Trip App covers more than 200 destinations worldwide and it will suggest user services based on location, particular daytime and previous Google searches.
With its immense wealth of data, reach and diverse expertise and travel products, it is being anticipated that it will one day give a tough competition to companies like Expedia and TripAdvisor if Google adds more booking capabilities.
The App is still in the advanced phase now; we can call it merely information now. In the future, Google plans to Support Google Enterprise accounts.
The Good news is that the Google Trip App will still work for you if you don’t have a Gmail account, but you will not be able to access certain personalized features.
The App is free and works on both Android and IOS devices. The information about weather, cultural sites, a nearby restaurant, destiny time, closing and opening time, will be made available to the user.
The most amazing thing is that the App works in Offline mode as well. The Offline mode will be important for you if you are travelling in a foreign country, it will save you Roaming fees.
But for Offline mode, the user has to download trip or itinerary to their smartphone in advance.
In short, we will conclude with that Google Trip App is like a personalized tour guide in the pocket of a user which includes information about Food and drink, day plans, reservations and much more at your fingertips.
Just click on Download button under each trip and save it to your smartphone in Offline mode.
If you have made a trip in the past, Google Trip can use your Gmail history to access your reservation or that trip and give you information accordingly.
E.g. If you have made a trip to Switzerland in January 2014, you can view your car rental and hotel reservations. The information will be sent to you via email.
You have the option to turn off this feature in settings if you don’t want Google Trip to access your previous trips.
“The app is fully capable without logging in but you lose some of the content,” says Richard Holden, Google’s vice president, product management.
Booking Is Not Available, The App Is Purely Informational Yet
Booking is not yet available on Google Trips, but Holden says “Google has done a lot of working on the booking side of the ledger for flights and hotels and felt that it could help users’ activities and travels in-destination through the Google Trips app.”
“You can imagine the future capability [for booking functionality] perhaps,” Holden says.
